Harvey and Alvarez make Futures Game

Tyler's BylineHunter Harvey and Dariel Alvarez made our Prospect Watch list and have proven to be worth it.

Harvey and Alvarez were named to the Futures Game roster, which highlights top Minor League players.

640451The two players are the only two from the Orioles organization to make the team and their stats have shown why they’re top talents.

Harvey has struck out 76 batters in 66.1 innings down in Single-A Delmarva. He also boasts a 2.98 ERA, along with a 4-4 record.

The Orioles drafted the 19-year-old with their first pick in the 2013 draft and he has held his own in the minors. Harvey has struck out 109 batters in 91.2 innings in his Minor League career so far.

Alvarez has been the best offensive prospect for the O’s this season, batting .308, along with 12 homeruns and 57 RBI in Double-A Bowie.

AlvarezThe Orioles signed the 26-year-old out of Cuba in 2013 and he has played well in the field, with seven outfield assists this season.

Harvey and Alvarez deserve to make the Futures Game, as they are clearly the future for Baltimore.

Hunter Harvey could join a fearsome rotation when he is Major League-ready; a rotation which could feature Kevin Gausman and Dylan Bundy at the front.

Dariel Alvarez will likely arrive to Baltimore faster than Harvey and could have a starting spot next season if the O’s can’t retain Nelson Cruz.

The future is bright for these two stars and they will be able to show off their talents in the Futures Game on Sunday, July 13.
